It sounds like everyone is too scared so I am having some made for myself. I have already found someone to make my gear for the distributor. I am going to try it. You must go out on a limb if your going to get the fruit!
Good luck. :D

Just so you know, I am not scared. Just been there, done that. Too much money for too little benefit.

I am another "been there, done that" person.
The roller cam and lifter set-up does make the engine perform better... for a while, then they break.
I will use one again in a race engine, I would never use one on the street.

The 440 with the roller I referred to was in a motor home. I advised against it from the start because of the oil pump gear issues, let alone lifters. It was never up to the open road with the roller. Unreal power band but forget about taking a trip in it. The engine was dynoed and made over 380 foot lbs before 2000 rpm and was still making that much after 4500. Peak was something like 460. This was on a realistic dyno, not like the ones they test "mild" 600 hp small chevys on. After all the hassle and expense, I picked a hydraulic cam and helped the next owner install it. Now it is a bulletproof hauler and he can drive it out to the middle of nowhere and back. Sure it only pulls the Grapevine on the 5 at 73 instead of 75 but he lives with that. Rollers do what they do for a price. To me it's not fun anymore if you can't use the vehicle for what you want when you want.

Some very good points that I had'nt thought about have been raised. I guess I'll be getting a solid lifter cam. I wonder how that Erson thing is doing?

I am just going to use a solid flat tappet for now. You guys are right, a roller is a lot of money just for a little gain. It should only be used for allout race engines.

Doug, what lifters were you using pictured with that roller cam? stock .904 Mopar size? I have similar lifters but dont know the manufacturer. Solid body, no oil groove, no oil holes, drilled slotted end tie bars.
