Does anyone know what the average Front/Rear weight distribution is for a 68 Barracuda fastback BH29B8B? I've got power steering, drums, and a 904 if you can dial that in. Thanks.

Hi there csheehy,

Are you looking to improve handling or do autoX or road course events? Just curious why you are asking.

You should be around 54-57% front, maybe on the lower end since I would guess you have 9" drums. You can get down to the low 50s % with some lightening and rearranging. My 64 Dart 4dr is 51% front, but that is with a lot of changes. My 68 Dart is 55% front, also with lots of mods, but heavy-ish stuff up front like a turbo and 11.75" discs.

I do autoX and road course events with the 64 Dart, as well as with a lightened and caged 66 Valiant that is 54-55% front. I plan to get the 68 Dart into these too, after some further mods. I drag race all of them.

Personally, I do not like the Mopar PS and all of mine are manual steering, which is simply wonderful for performance driving. However, to each their own! I know a lot of the V8 Mopar handling cars (heavy) use PS.

Hope this helps,

Lou

Thank for the info @Dart270. My interest is spirited driving on New England's twisty backroads while retaining the stock appearance of the car. You guessed it right; improved handling is the motive. Again, much appreciate the info.

About the biggest improvement you can make is disc brakes, 4whl if possible. Shocks and sway bars would be next. And, if you can deal with different tires/wheels, then that is actually the biggest gain over stock 13s or 14s. Cans of worms to open on these topics...

Best,
Lou
