Okay...I'm attempting to redo the whole front end on my 72 Valiant. Just eyeballing everything, but to make things look relatively straight, one tie rod is adjusted way in and the other way out. Also, if I turn the wheel lock to lock and divide by 2, the wheel is about 90 degrees from straight. Any ideas on where I'm messing up?

does a 72 Valient have a 'rag joint' ,,, a fiber disk that resides between the steering column shaft and the steering box shaft, if so sounds like it is 180 out. Uncouple the joint, rotate the steering wheel 180 and put it back together...I had the same issue on the 83 D150 and that is what I did to fix it.

Make the tie rods equal and see if you're closer.

No, there is no rag joint in the steering system of a Valiant.
