Hi all! Anyone running one of this carbs? They are 450cfm double pumpers with many calibration features and they come tuned for straigth six or small V8 engines.

They seems to be a good choice for our Slants.

Anyone has an imput on them??

I checked the numbers of the carb jetting on Quickfuel web and they state everything but venturi size. I sent a question to them about that.

Msybe it need to be rejeted and some additional changes on the accel pump calibration. But it does look good on papers.

My only other concern will be on the emulsion side but being a 450cfm carb it should be close enough.

I found out the the venturi size is 1,09" on all 4 holes and the throttle bore is 1-9/16, so it surelly looks good for a Slant.

Comes with #55 on front and #60 on the secondaries, 65 power valve and 25 pump nozzle.

It has mechanical secondaries, 4 corner idle system, 4 glass windows for fuel level, changeable idle bleeds, idle feed and power valve channel restrictors and electric choke. And its all aluminum!!!

I know that it looks that I'm working for Quickfuel promoting this!!! LOL but I'm not. I'm just exited about this new carb that give us Slanters a more suitable choice for the ones that want tu run on a 4BBL carb, specially for us that likes Holley type carbs.

Still, any imput on this carbs will be much appreciated.

I started my Dart project with a 650 cfm Holley, then moved down to a 600 cfm Holley (just because I had them both laying around). Even though the plugs look good I think it's just too much fuel. I just ordered the QuickFuel 450 and it should be here Thursday in time for this weekends drag race at Woodburn. I'm pretty excited to see how well it performs.

I really like the carb over what we had before. Primed it, pumped it twice, and the Dart fired right up. It does need some adjustment. Took it to Woodburn drags over the weekend and a few people pointed out that I was getting a little black smoke when leaving the line. I'm not a carb person so I'm thinking I may take the Dart to a local dyno tuner and have him set it up. I also had a few issues with the way I had my fuel lines run, which cross over above the headers. I just didn't have time to get them setup right. The fuel heated up to the point of almost vapor locking a few times. The previous best for the Dart was 14.935 @ 90.80 mph. Our best this weekend was 14.563 @ 93.66 mph.

Just want to say thanks to the other slant 6 racers at the track for all the useful information. Sorry I couldn't bring home the trophy for us, but I'm happy to get Runner up.

Black smoke is a very rich mixture. I would try a smaller accelerator pump nozzle.

No, but I probably should install one. Where would be the best location to weld the exhaust bung on a shorty split header setup?

I have an AEM and it says to install the Bosch sensor at 18" or longer starting at the headers flange. In your case I will put it were all 6 cilinders merge into one collector.

If by any chance you are runing 3-1 all the way to the mufflers, I will put the thread on both sides, one with the sensor and onother with a plug, so you can move to monito each exhaust (1-2-3 or 4-5-6).

I concur, this is pretty common since these carbs are set up for V-8 and sometimes get a bit generous on the acc cam profile and/or the shooter nozzle size.

One thing to consider with the HR 450 is it comes with the smallest Accelerator Pump Nozzle (.025") that they have so there's no going down in size. Any other suggestions?

I wonder if Holley nozzles will work. They look the same and do come in 2 smaller sizes.

A less aggressive pump cam is the other option.
