Hello Guys and Gals,
Its been a while since I've posted. I've just been lurking. My 1984 D150 4 speed short box is still going strong. She is still on the lean burn computer too. I've got the parts to swap it out, but I have a hard time putting the truck down and actually taking the time to do it. I've been gathering my thoughts on how I want to build the engine for a nice pickup truck street engine with some grunt. I am currently looking for a pre '75 engine to use, but I think even the later motors with the cast crank will do for my intended purpose. I'm just going to build the spare engine when I find one and keep driving my beloved pickup. Since I don't think the thing is ever going to get tired enough to quit. Anyway I just wanted to drop in and say hello. Thanks again for the site and a lot of great reading and very informative threads.

Nice post. We read so many posts, with folks having an issue with their slant. I believe this is because either they're working with a special build or it's been decades since these engines were in production. it's nice to hear a reminder that, like the energizer bunny and the timex watch, the SL6 is a very durable engine. My brother is building a 360 for his '68 dart, but his SL6 has about 300k or so miles on it and keeps going...so he has plenty of time to work on his V8 project.

Nice to see a few more truck owners here! Like you, I plan to build a different slant six while this one is running (it's actually a slant five right now) and swap them over one weekend. I gathered up the parts to do a 360 swap but backed out of it and sold the engine and bellhousing. Problem is, there are few slants in this area in the junkyards, and everyone thinks these "rare" engines are made of platinum on Craigslist.

Post up some pics of the truck!
