Looking for a performance coil for a "68 that has been converted to electronic ignition. The coil died, appears stock (5-pin EI kit). Not looking for HEI or a race coil - street performance upgrade.

Resistor/condenser recommendations and anything else not mentioned that I may have missed is welcome. Thanks all! -Chris

UPDATE: I'm looking for a canister-coil (OE appearance) that would benefit torque more than high RPM. The stats on coil selection is dizzying to me - hope recommendations here will cut my research down to a few selections.

Stock Ford e-core coil off of a late 80s to mid 90s Ford product. Get one for a Mustang or F150.

The Ford E core coil is not an HEI only unit. I run one on the 225 in my brother's 1983 Dodge van. It has a stock Mopar electronic ignition system. The E-core coil is a robust unit that delivers a slightly hotter spark than stock and that works well with both HEI igniotion and the stock Mopar electronic ignition. It is also cheap and readily available.

reed, i converted the ignition on my 86 f-150 from the stock EFI system to the DSII, because i had the dreaded feedback carb system, a horror on ford products. i could not get the TFI coil to fire, so i installed an oilfield ignition coil (common in oklahoma, hotter spark). what is the trick to keeping a TFI coil? that was literally the only change after swapping the dizzy and installing the box, i know the TFI coil was good. just couldn't get it to fire.

I have used the MSD blaster II canister coil on several engines and they have been rock solid.

I just hoked thej (+) coil lead to the (+) terminal and the (-) coil lead to the (-) coil terminal on the e-core coil and it has worked fine for about five years now. The van is running stock Mopar electronic ignition with a ballast resistor.
