Found out today from the machine shop that my block is already at .40 over and needs to go .80 over to clean up. Shop manager and I both have tried, but can't find a set of pistons for this bore. Was wondering if anyone here knows where a guy might find some. Appreciate everyone's help, thanks, Doc

Here are some oversize piston choices:

The campbell enterpise/ wiseco pistons require the use of a set of 198 rods or the K1/Molnar 7" rods...

I haven't seen availability of .080 tin top cast pistons in a while... I think someone got a set a while back but couldn't get rings for them....

Too bad a .060 overbore won't clean things up (the bores must be badly scored or rusted/pitted to need that much clean up).

Other options are custom pistons, going to a long rod build, or even going long rod and seeing if your block will support a .100 overbore and using other brand pistons in 3.5"....

Thanks guys. Sometimes our choices are rather slim. In this case, .60 won't clean the bore. Gotta go bigger. Gonna talk to Campbell, check my options. The shop doing the work has another block if all else fails.

Taking it .100 over will get you possibly into a Chevy piston that will work with the 6.7" rod.

Just out of curiosity, how far can one bore a slant six? How far have people gone successfully boring a slant six, how much material is there to work with in that regard?

I think the Slantkota engine was bore over .150"

My new race motor had the wall thickness checked and the thinnest was .225" If you bored it .150" over you would still have a .150 thick wall.

When you go to chose a set of piston rings to go with them... they only go to 60 over... (some only go to 040...)

So if you buy them, you may need to call or have your machinist call Hastings or someone for a set of 80 over rings...

If you go this route, you also will need to determine if you are going standard iron, or Moly rings... this will determine how the machinist
final hones the bore, too...

I see that now. I went and checked on Rock Auto again. They list an 80 over slug, but not 80 over rings???

Note to self: Bore my slant as little as possible! GOT IT!
