If you're replacing the starter, go a by a junkyard and ask for one from a 1992 Dodge Dakota with a 5.2L... they run about $30, have twice the HP of the stock starter and wind about twice as fast, and weigh about half as much, and bolts right in... make sure they test it in front of you to make sure it spins over.

It's one of the best bolt in upgrades you can get.

Alright i'll take a look around. There's a few junkyards but is 1992 the only model year that will fit?

That's the easiest year for them to get on the computer for the match... it will be more like the 1992-1996 Dakota/Ram/Ram Van with 3.9L/5.2L/5.9L...

You hand them more than the simple search they'll goof it up... just ask for the 1992 Dakota 5.2L
