Hey guys, got a 1975 dodge w100 clubcab short bed. My 360 and tranny took a dump in the same time, I got access to a slant 6 with truck 727 and divorced transfer case. Is it worth doing a slant 6 powerwagon? My truck has 4" lift, with dana 44, 33" tires, and 3.54 gears.

Ooof. I love the slant, but that is a beast of a vehicle to move around with just a 225 and 3.5 gears. THe slant will do it, but don't expect to go fast or climb steep hills.

Not planning on going over 70-75 and with mild hill climbing

If you had a long enough straightaway you could get up to 75.

I actually schucked a NP435 clutch setup for a guy putting together a hill side hunting RamCharger 4x4 with a supersix, 9:1 scr and comp 252 cam... they were running 28" tires and 4.11's and said it crawled along in 4x4 just fine....

Your combination will run... but with the 33" tires and the 3.54's it may lug out at a start and may take a few football fields to get up to speed....

With the heavy vehicle the 4x4 and the bigger tires... you will need to swap out the rear gears for something more like 4.11's or 4.56's to be kind to the slant to get things motivating....especially uphill....

This the point I was trying to make but expressed much better.

That being said, I am aware that I need truck slant six motor mounts, can I use the engine cross member I have now (for V 8)and cross member (from 727 married case)?

Yes. The trucks and vans use the same engine crossmember (K frame) for both six and eight clinder motors, but different motor mounts. The transmission mount should also be the same.

I have an '84 W100 regular cab long bed with a slant and NP 435 manual. It has 33" tires an 3.55 gears. It is pretty weak at highway speeds but not bad around town. I would bump up the compression put in a bigger cam and at least a two bbl carb. Don't expect 360 performance though.

I really like the idea of a turbo slant 6 for my powerwagon.

I thought about a turbo for mine also. The trick will be to get the right size turbo for your needs. Some kind of EFI will be much better than a carb. It will be a lot of work but worth it if your skill level is high enough to set it up.

Are the engine mounts hard to get ahold of? The slant six I have access to has no engine mounts.

Any 1972-1987 slant powered truck or van will have them. Be sure to get the truck/van oil pan and oil pickup tube as well.
