Took all the rocker arms off and removed the pushrod that was not oiling on the #5 Exaust valve and nothing is blocked in the passage way..Bad lifter perhaps?I am in the process of removing the head..

Did you clean out the pasages in the rocker arm?

The passages on the rocker shaft are lining up correctly with the passages in the rocker arm?

Reed? Don't you have a thread on here detailing how the passages need to be installed with regard to the front and back of the hydraulic shaft? Where the passages are pointing?

n4dxx, it's good that your rockers don't have adjusters. There's a company out there selling parts that can't be used with hydraulic slants. That company is responsible for a lot of damaged engines.

Why, yes, yes I do. click on the red text.

However, if 11 out of the 12 rocker arms have good oil flow, I suspect something is wrong with that 12th rocker arm. Can you spray carb cleaner through the passages in the rocker arm?

How are the spacers set up? Can a side to side misalignment occlude the passages? I don't want to guess here, so pay attention to the folks that run hydraulic top ends. I do not.
Maybe Reed can link the oil flow diagram of the hydraulic slant.
The slant feeds oil from the rocker shaft, through the rocker, down through the push rod, and pumps up the lifter. Completely Bass Ackward to many engines. There is no oil passage feeding oil to the lifter through the block.

CEEJ is right about inspecting the spacer placements. THe margin of error re: lining up the oil feed hole in the rocker arm shaft to the oil feed groove on the rocker arm is small. The spacers MUST be installed in the correct order.

The lifters are actually fed oil by the rockers. Oil goes from the pump, to the main oil gallery, up the oil passage at the back of the block, up into the rocker arm shaft, out the holes in the shaft, into the rocker arm, a bit goes out the tip of the rocker arm but most goes down the hollow pushrod and into the top of the lifter.

If the lifter had failed in such a way as to be clogged, the oil would just come out the rocker arm tip or stay pressurized in the pushrod.

It still sounds like the #5 rocker has clogged passages so the lifter isn't getting oil and getting pumped up. If #5 is not fully exhausting it could cause a misfire.

:?: Why remove the head? The lack of oil coming out of the rocker arm indicates a clogged passage in the rocker arm. I would start by squirting carb cleaner through both passages and then running the engine with a quart of marvel mystery oil in the engine.

A few years back I swapped the cam in the slant six in my brother's can from a mechanical cam to a hydraulic cam. I used parts that had sat in s shed for a few years and were very dirty. When the engine started the lifters were very noisy and several were stuck. I added marvel mystery oil and in a few days the lifters had all quieted down. Easier than pulling a head.

Did you check the hollow pushrod?
