Okay so i have collected a lot of information and thought about what i would like to do to my slant. right now it has a 2bbl with an adapter plate and electronic ignition. everything else is stock on a 69 motor. I have already purchased and painted a new super 6 intake. i plan on puttin the carb on that. the other upgrades i was planning on were buying a new head that has been milled .100 and a port job with oversized valves. to match the head i have been recommended the oregon cam grind number 819 if im not mistaken. Plus dutra duals and 2 inch exhaust just because its eaisier to find mufflers in that size. Does that sound like a good combo? Would that have decent power for a daily driver. im also in the process of buying an 8 3/4 3.23 rear end.
thanks for the help
-casey

That would work, you will need to do the measurements and make sure your compression ratio will support the cam, and see where to degree the camshaft for best use... If you are using the stock bottom end, be prepared if the added compression puts stress on the rings, and you have to check and rehone/ overbore the block...

Other priority wish list items to make it work right and be safe:

Disc brakes

Electronic Ignition and a recurved distributor to make best use of the improvements.

Okay sounds good. i already have electronic ignition and i just went over and totally did the drum brakes so it is somewhat safe for now. the motor just got to 58,000 miles today. its never rolled over either. so i hope the bottom end should be okay.

DI is right- your priority should be safety before speed. I would upgrade the brakes before building a hot motor.

Don't forget that most disc brake upgrades are going to give you 4 1/2" bolt circle wheels up front. An A body 8 3'4" rear will still have the 4" pattern like your Dart has now.

If your car is the 69 Dart, then you have the small 4" bolt pattern.

Rick

Casey, I live 20min north of Lancaster and would be willing to guide you in your engine build combo. If you would like to talk or get together sometime let me know. I also have lots of extra parts, heads, motors, intakes, wheels, axles and countless other small parts.

Oh okay thanks rick I didn't know that. And that's awesome I'd love to chat sometime. I have a few local friends who are into motors but none with the slants.

for brakes, this is another option to avoid the full blown disk swap http://musclecarbrakes.com/stage3.html

I'm considering doing this to mine to keep it more original, but still stepping up the stopping power for safety. I've talked to a couple other e-body owners who did the same swap and they are quite happy, even stopping a heavy v8
