Short question...

Are the -64 pushbutton 904 the same as the -65 floorshifted 904?

Yes - mostly

I believe the only difference is the rooster comb on the valve body. The '65 piece has an extra position for when the shifter is in Park. The valve body _might_ also be different for the same reason.

The valve bodies can be swapped, so you should be safe as long as you match the right valve body with the shifter.

...but are there two cables on the pushbutton auto? I know the 904 in my Barracuda -65 have two cables to the floorshifter, but can I just swap in a 904 pushbutton trans...? Without changing valvebody...?

No, if you want to put a '60-'64 transmission into your '65, you will need to swap valve body components.

So... How can I solve this...?

I have a -65 Barracuda with no engine/trans.
I have a -64 Valiant with 170/904 partcar without pushbutton panel.

Is there any aftermarket floorshifter for the pushbutton, one-cable operated 904...?

There is no one-cable-operated A904. The pre-'66 transmsissions have two cables, whether they're pushbutton or lever shifted.

There is no aftermarket shifter for the cable-shifted Torqueflites.

Possible solutions:

• Get the pushbutton parts to complete your '64 dashboard and install it in the Barracuda along with the engine and trans

• Get the necessary parts to convert the '64 transmission to work with the '65 lever shifter. That will take a Parts Wanted auction on here or contact with Torqueflite specialist Pat Blais.

I have a 65 Valiant/Barracuda floor shifter. Should also have the parts needed to modify the 64 valve body. But I don't know if I have the correct cables, to work with the floor shifter. I'll have to dig around.

'63-'64 Dart and '63-'64 Valiant all use the same pushbutton assembly. Only the dashboard trim piece is different.
