Hello! I am really excited to join this forum. I am buying a 1964 Dart GT this weekend. It's going to be my first Slant 6 car. The guy Im buying it from said he had the motor built and bored out and everything and said it ran a 13.50
at the quarter mile. or something (I can't remember exactly) without boost. He's running a 4 barrel Holley on a pretty long running manifold. Is that likely? or even possible? I haven't seen the car in person yet.

I have no experience with slant 6 cars and I've never really dragged anything at the strip.

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like a cool car.

A typical 1/4 mile time for a naturally aspirated Slant 6, without extreme measures, would be 15s or 16s in the 1/4. 13s can be done, but only with expensive/extreme engine building and a very lumpy (rough idle) camshaft, etc... 14s is more common, of course, but also fairly rare. If he has timeslips or pictures, that is the only way to get a real idea if he is correct.

Best wishes,

Lou

As it turns out I've been surfing the Forum a bit and I think the car used to belong to a guy on this Forum called MiDi? weird how it all works out. :D

I'm not sure he ever raced the car. Ceej would know, but I don't remember that car having mid 13 second steam in it.

I don't recall ever hearing about Midi racing it, but he did put some serious work into it. It was an aggressive looking and sounding car when I last saw it, about ten years ago.

Post some pictures!

I dont think Midi is the guy who has the ad up. Probably sold it a long time ago. Either way I am really stoked to get the car and Ill post plenty of pictures.

Midi raced the green car at Medford and Portland (PIR) So yes, he has been on a track or two.

Don't know if he raced any of the early cars he had.
