Due to my stupidity Im going to have to rebuild the slant six.
Wheres the best place to buy rebuild kits? Was also considering adding the edelbrock 4bbl intake with fitech efi. Tired of these junky 1bbl carbs.

Any advice, tips, etc appreciated!

Cam recommendations?

Tossing a 4bbl on a stock (or stock-ish) engine isn't the way to a happy result. Upgrades have to be planned and thought-through.

Fitech's kit might be a little too much for a stockish slant also. I would look in to affordable efi for a complete kit with optional spark control.

I need parts, like cam/lifters, bearings/rings. A stock rebuild, but maybe a little better cam for low end torque. Any recommendations on that?

Just pulled the head. Small ridge in cylinders. Will wait and see what the machinist says, hopefully it wont need bored.

You can use the original Carter BBD, or with an adapter you can use a Holley 2300 350cfm (0-7448), there are other carbs that can use the Holley flange pattern or the BBD pattern... If the car is an automatic, you will need to workout a kickdown cable solution, and may need a different accelerator cable as well....
There used to be rebuild kits on Northern Auto Parts' site, and a few other brands available at other stores... if upgrading the cam and carb, getting the engine to 9:1 static compression ratio will pep it up and get you some more low end torque to play with... getting the ports cleaned up and bowl blended will also help....

There are a number of cam options available... you can send your old cam and lifters to be reground by Oregon Cam grinding, the 2106 grind is good for this level of build...818 has been popular, 819 should also work... these will be closer to stock but have a little more lift to work with the porting and blending improvements...

Building her back stock so I do not want to dump a lot of money in it. As far as compression, I think I read where it was normal to cut the head .100" to get the compression up a bit.

Need to get this engine back together fairly quick so no time to send cam off.
I will probably call CompCams and see if they have a good grind for the slant. Any recommendations on lift and duration?

Just heard from the machinist. Cylinder bores wore 0.20 so they will bore it 0.30".

Comp 252/252/110 .435 lift mechanical lifters...was good for the street... and worked great when paired with 9.2:1 SCR and some port blending and the BBD. You will want to measure before doing the .100 cut... depending on the head gasket you may need to do more of a cut to get it there... also it's better to get most of the cut off the deck than the head... that way if the head/valve seat/etc.. goes bad, you can put a standard head back on it an be back to where things were compression and performance-wise.

Be aware that we have had users in the past that had problems with Comp's cam blanks chewing up the oil pump gear, that's why we typically recommend OCG... (plus the regrind cam and lifters will be much less than a comp stick and lifters by a wide margin.... and you know your current cam hasn't tanked the OP gear....
