Thanks all! the folks on this forum were very helpful.
Special thanks to Dan and Duster Idiot. Dan, you had some great advice, as did you Rob. But that recurved dizzy is working out great.
Car is so much more fun to drive...unfortunately, for Smog reasons I'm only allowed to drive 5K miles a year.

Ironic that Vegas carbon footprint is through the roof , yet you cant operate a proper American car. needless government intrusion. Unplug speedo and drive all you want as everyone seems to drive light speed out there.

Nice clean install!

As far as your mileage limitation: that looks like a condition of receiving collector-vehicle licence plates, which exempt you from periodic emissions tests and probably cost less than standard plates. If you want to drive more than 5k miles/year, you'd just put standard plates on it (and standard insurance), easily pass the emissions test, and off you go. This is not a case of big-nannystate-government overreach, it's a case of making sure that cars registered as collector vehicles are operated as collector vehicles, not everyday grocery getters.

Agreed Dan...

I'm just lamenting that unfortunately, now that the car is so much fun to drive, there is no way it would pass...
I'll just have to settle for the the meetups and weekend runs...

BTW, before I realized that I had the kickdown a bit loose, I probably drove about 200 miles. do you think this would have hurt the tranny? I didn't feel any slipping.

What makes you so sure it would flunk? Nevada puts '68-'95 cars through a 2-speed test (idle and 2500 rpm) and has a short list of equipment that must be intact if it was original equipment (EGR and pressure/vacuum gas cap definitely on your car, catalytic converter and fuel fill pipe unleaded restrictor if originally equipped). And the actual emissions standards are just as lax as the ones my '65 with a well-worn engine passed easily in Denver 25 years ago. There's no reason why your car, properly tuned, shouldn't easily pass unless it used to have a catalytic converter and doesn't any more, or the EGR valve has been removed. Both conditions are easily reversible.

No, just make sure it's put together and adjusted correctly.

oh...yeah...

no cat...no egr

that all went by the wayside with the conversion.

She'll just have to be a weekend meetup car.

My point is, it would not be difficult to put a cat (meow!) and EGR in it if you wanted to have regular plates on it and drive as much as you want.
