The last weekend in April, April 27-29, will be Mopars/Musclecars (not sure which) at the Strip in Las Vegas. Posted this a couple of weeks ago but looks like it was lost.

E-mail from Phil Painter & MATS sent out 2/6 @ 8:38 AM today:

We are pleased to announce some exciting News. But before we do, we would like to bring you up to date.

The Cannery Hotel served as our partner for 15 Years, It was a great relationship. The owners sold out in April last year to Boyd Gaming who also bought the Aliante Casino. The new management did not want to pursue any more automotive events at either property. We have worked with their staff to try to find a workable solution. Unfortunately a workable option did not present itself. We appreciate all that the Cannery provided and wish them further success.

The 2018 Host Hotel is the Down Town Grand. They have greeted this opportunity with open arms hospitality. Here is what you need to know.

Phone # 1-855-384-7263

Code: 180426MOPA

Room Rate: $89.00 per night (plus tax, fees etc)

Address : 206 North 3rd Street, Las Vegas NV 89101 (2 blocks off of the 95 freeway, one block from Fremont Street. Approximately 250 Yards for Down Town Las Vegas Event Center.

The Grand Features 600 Rooms, Roof Top open air bar with swimming pool. Two parking structures, (parking is free with room validation). Additional Restaurant choices within walking distance.

Over size parking is available for $5.00 a day fee within one block at the Main Street Station, over size parking lot on Stewart Avenue. Semi Parking is available near by on Main Street. More directions later.

You are being sent this email ahead of time. You will have 24 hours to make your reservations ahead of us announcing this information to the public. You are welcome to share the discount code with friends etc. Remember the Cannery Sold Out every year.

The Downtown Grand has a resort fee of $24.99 a day.. This fee is in addition to the room rates for that weekend.. There are 4 hotel/casino's in the same area that do not have resort fees.. Happy to share info on them if anyone has interest..

I was thinking about making a spaghetti lunch for the group again at this event.. But since I couldn't seem to get feedback on how many were planning on attending I've bagged the idea.. I'm a planner and last minute figuring for this is not something I want to mess with.. So I'll just worry about the party of 4 I'm with..

Looks like I will be there with the 71 Demon. Heard back from Andrew a while ago & he said he would not make it this year.

Yes, the slanted class is pretty bleak this year. Not as much fun but, look at the bright side, the worst you can do is take runner up.

Yikes. Sorry to hear that. Sounds like the West needs a new dose (or re-invigoration) of ringleaders and rabble rousers!

Sorry for the low turnout. :( Hopefully the rest of the year will be better.

Can you please post or PM me the names of the two racers and who won? Thanks!
