Sounds great! Thanks again, Rob. If we have 60 on the list and we only get 1/2-3/4 we'll still have the biggest Slant race and Slanted reunion ever!

I am seriously considering fabricating a heavy receiver hitch for the turbo Dart so I can tow Project V up there and have 2 cars in attendance, in case I cannot find another driver...

Cheers,
Lou

Hey Lou,

I have a heavy duty hitch we made for Stella to tow the GodsRods Duster. It’s a bolt in receiver type hitch. You are welcome to use it if you’d like.

Hmmmm. Maybe I could borrow it at least for a template and maybe use it. Which races are you shooting to attend, Rob?

Cheers,
Lou

My racing plans very rarely turn out like I plan Lou. I’ll PM you.

I just went to Pull a Part in Louisville and got one off a truck. Then I shortened it to keep the hitch centered and have the mounts meet the frame rails and drill holes in the car to match up. I had to open up holes in the side of the frame rails to put the bolts in from the top.

(Not to worry - I didn't weld it myself. It was done by a certified welder. )

Add my son Taylor as another potential racer. His 1965 Barracuda should be back on the road by them. I'm hoping to get him to N. Wilksboro too a shakedown and practice session for him. He's never raced before but he's been coming to these thing since he was a little guy.

I didn't touch a computer all last week! I was on leave from work and only checked the Forum on my cell phone. I'll update the roster and get Taylor added. I promise!

Another development this weekend is the donation of a very cool vintage trophy. I went to the Mo-Kan race and got to hang out with Mark Goodman for a little while Friday.

Mo-Kan Dragway has been running since 1962 and used to give out cool trophies back in the day. Mark recently bought a few trophies won by a local racer back in the early 60's. He refurbished one for the race this weekend. As I was admiring it, he dug out another one and handed it to me for the Clay City Reunion Race. My skills aren't as good as Mark's, but I'll do my best to bring this one back to life for this historic event.

Here is the one Mark handed out this weekend:

This one will be refurbished for Clay City:

It even looks a little bit like a Mopar.

Anything old and "vintage" is good. You ain't quite that "vintage" are ya...?
Motocross may not have the same kinda "history", but if they have that vintage look and feel I'm interested.
I much prefer repurposing things like this rather than just buying the newer cheapie plastic stuff... :D

I added Taylor Andreas with his 65 Barracuda to the list. Mike said to add him as a potential racer, but I am confident that once he gets a couple passes under his belt he will be in the Rookie of the Year battle for 2018.

With that said,... It's time to get a little more serious about who we actually believe will make it to this event. I've been known to be overly optimistic at times (basically ALL times  ), but I'm very confident that we will have at least 30 cars at Clay City. This WILL be the biggest gathering of Slant 6 racers ever assembled! That's pretty cool stuff!

I really need everyone's help to narrow down the field to what is realistic. I'll start making calls and shooting out some PM's, but I need your feedback on the 60 names on the current list. Please post here or shoot me a PM if you know any of these folks are not going to be there... or if they are!
