Didn't make Motor Mile, due to truck problems on the way.
The new (patched up) engine in the 66 valiant is knocking. It is getting worse, everytime I move the car. Wondering if I torqued the rods bolts when I replaced the piston/rod. Decided to do a 170 for the car. The 170 short block is done. forged pistons .060 over, decked to .005, balanced, windage tray, Erson .510 lift, 282 dur cam.
Pulled the 225 out of the car, and swapped the head onto the 170. 42 cc chambers, engine builder valves, pocket ported, 340 springs/dampers, aluminum retainers, homemade 3/8 pushrods, stock rockers. CR figures out to 11.01
Hopefully it will not rain tommorrow, and I can drop the engine in place. Will be using my new Edge hybrid converter, built for the 170 engine.

PS: I'm embarrased.   The knock on the old setup was the converter, not only did I not use locktite, I didn't even tighten the bolts

170 motor is in place. Converter bolted up, and locktited   . Clifford long tube headers on, and intake/carb/nitrous from the 225 bolted up.

Everything ready to fireup, and do the "run in". Of course now the sky opened up. It's pouring.

Yep. Stopped raining, but it's a little late to break in the engine. Don't like to disturb the neighbors this late. They're pretty cool about the race cars, but why rock the boat. There's always tommorrow morning. Then hopefully (if everything is good, and it doesn't rain) TNT tommorrow night.

Me too. Hopefully, tonight, if the rain holds off.

No rain. Got in the TnT. Best run was:
60 ft.........1.734
1/8........... 7.942 at 82.92 mph
1/4............12.874 at 95.03 mph
That was the good.
Now the bad. Engine layed over at the top end, and started pushing smoke. I think I broke something.

That's a shame Charlie. Looked like the car hooked up and ran really strong. Hopefully it's not hurt too bad.
