I am interested in buying a 63 Valiant and am looking for some help:

Did the 63 Valiant have a 225 option?

If so, how do you identify the 225 over the 170?

thanks for any help. I searched around, but didnt find this info. Any help or direction to links will be appreciated.

Yes, a 225 was optional. A quick way to tell is the by pass hose between the head and water pump, but I can't remember the length of them..The sure-fire way is to look at the machined surface on the front of the block, behind the coil. This will tell you for sure what the displacement is by the numbers stamped in them.

The 170 block is about an inch shorter than the 225, and the bypass hose on the 170 would be about 1 inch long, about 2 inches for the 225
