That look great, better than new.

Photo trick..

Paint was still wet in that shot.

It will be satin black.

I am distracted by k frames in cars that are actually shiny.

1/20/19:

Well I got all of the K Frame Painted and installed.

Got the new 16:1 Steering Box installed, along with new Pittman arm, 11/16 Tie Rods and Adjuster Sleeves.

Got the Upper arms, strut rods installed too.

Lower arms are in place for mock up but will need to be removed for paint after the sway bar comes in and gets mocked up and tabs welded in place.

I also mocked up one spindle and rotor, Threw the 17x8 Mustang wheel on with a 245-45-17 Tire on it.
Was hitting the Grease Zerk on Full drop as well as the tie-rod end the entire time.

I was able to bolt the wheel on and determined that a 1/2" wheel spacer along with some quality 3" long wheel studs will help things out here.
Pictorial:

New UCA, Steering Bits and Front Strut Rod. LCA is there for mock up - to be finished soon.

Hits the Zerk :-(

Hits the Tie rod End too! :-(

That's 1/4" of space and the wheel is hitting. I hope to get a 1/2" spacer to kick the wheel out toward the edge of the fender some more to clear these things.
Also a set of 3" long studs will help here! :-)

These cars look so much better with a tire filling the wheel well.

Transformation at ride height: I think the mock up is going well - Time to fit the sway bar!

Cheers!

Wheels look great. About the same as the ones we had on my son's Maverick.

How are the arm exercises coming along?

I am ready.

Lots of lifting and tire changing keeps the upper body fit. Removing unneeded weight from the front of the car will help too!
Got a Fiberglass hood and some other trick bits to get the front end lighter.

Looks great, Greg. I have always run spacers on those wheels (1/2 - 3/4") to get BJ and tie rod clearance. They are deep offset anyway, so a spacer makes sense.

The FFI sway bar arrived today,

So this week's project will include mocking it up and getting the tabs welded onto the lca's. Once that is done lca's will be removed, painted and reinstalled.

Also putting together the dual circuit master cylinder and rebuilding the steering column.

The closer you can get the tabs to the wheel, the more effective the bar will be...……...

Right on!

They are designed to line up about on the shock bolt area. I don't think i will be widening the bar.

1/27/19:

I got the Sway Bar mocked up and the mounts mocked and then welded to the LCA's
The Steering column I now rebuilt and refreshed with new seals and paint, etc,

I found that my 1/2" wheel spacers were not wide enough so I went to 3/4" Spacers.

I started to paint the LCA's with some POR15.

Those are nice looking sway bar tabs, and nice work on the LCAs. People will freak when we show up to a track day or autoX with a pair of Slant 6 64 Darts.

Thanks Lou.

Those sway bar tabs were from speedway motors, but did not hit the lca in mock up. So I had some spare roll cage tubing that I cut about 2" off of to bridge the gap.

Of course some other small mods needed to make it all work before welding.

Will that induce a twist in the lower arm since it's so far off the centerline?
