I have an ‘85 D100 with the /6 of course. My rear axle no longer has the axle ratio tag on it. Is there a resource I can use where I enter my VIN, is there a past thread that covers this that I can find my answer? If no to either one, I’ll just take the diff cover off and count the teeth. That being said, is the pinion gear visible? Thanks in advance.

Easy way. Jack up one rear wheel, but trans in neutral (block wheels first). Make a mark on the wheel, and driveshaft. Turn wheel 2 turns, and count driveshaft turns. 3 1/2 turns = 3.55, 3 3/4 turns= 3.73, a little less then 4 turns= 3.91, etc. This will only work with a non sure grip rear. If you have a sure grip, then jack up both rear wheels, and turn wheel one turn, and count drive shaft turns.
