Starting this thread to get the plan for my wife's 225 with a PB transmission. This car was an original 170 so it has had a transplant from sometime in the past. Here is the block stamping:

PT 225 T 25181106 with a 3 that looks like it stamped over the 6. Can someone decode it for me?

Next, slantsixDan has guided me on how the build should go to create a fun high torque grocery getter that will give the wife a reason to want to take the Dart. What he recommended was to get a knowledgeable person over here, like Doctor Dodge (Doug Dutra) , to get to build a top notch head that can breath for me. Any takers?

Thanks
Jim

Should be:

PT: Trenton Engine Plant
225: Cubic inch displacement
T: Truck engine
2518: Engine built on 19 June 1968
1106: Probably a serial number from the particular line this engine was built on.

Truck blocks are nice; they got extra inspections and were held to tighter quality standards (no weld repairs allowed, etc) versus the looser requirements for passenger car engines.

You'll find the transmission ID code stamped on the driver's side of the trans pan rail (on the trans housing just above the pan).

Thanks, will look for it. Been too busy since we bought it to even jack it up and get a good look under it.

If the bottom end is original would you expect it to have a forged crank

It can only be a forged crank with the block casting number you shared with me earlier—no possibility of a cast crank.

Awesome so getting the 198 aftermarket rods from K1 or Molnar are for sure since the cast crank versions of them are discontinued from both manufactures.

Just for fun I put what I think the stock 1963 225 and what SlantSix6 recommend for a build into Performance Trends software to see the difference. A few parameter are guesses but they are consistent across both models. Not a bad improvement!
