Didnt get as much time as Id hoped but instead I took some time to round up parts I no longer need and try to get rid of them. $5 sale in sale department.

Then I got to work on the truck. Put the nippo denso alt back on w a shorter belt to help w slipping. Took plastic stud protecter off so I could cut it down and make it flat. Hard to fit wire connectors inside it.

Then spent a bit of time w my haynes and some wire cutters!! Cut out a bit of extra wires. One was the old charge wire to the Alt, one thats a ground- it runs from passenger side washer pump and blower motor, all the way to the driverside bulk head fitting and grounds via a ring terminal rt next to it. !? So I untaped all my wires and pulled it back to passenger side and ground it over there. One wire for temp sensor which I kept but shortened. One connector that originally housed the oil sending light, two or three wires there. Also pulled the voltage regulator wires so I can mount it over by the Alt. Plan is that most of my relays will be over there (high, low, hei, fan, PWM board, etc) so Ill mount the relay packs, daisy chain the positive turn on and also use that for the field on the Alt. Got a buse block headed at me too so I can fuse this stuff.

Did manage to install a ground bar directly on the frame below the alternator. Then reused the old (10ga?) factory charge wire to run directly from the Alt to the ground bar. Also where I connected the washer pump/blower motor ground. Will connect hei, relays, and voltage reg once those go in.

Id really like to get inside the cab and get into that wire but I have enough stuff going on right now.

Did get the heater hoses back in, nice length so its all out of the way.

Being so wrapped up in everything, I JUST ordered my U bent pipe !? DOH!!
So thats on the way. Plan to cut up the down pipe I currently have for the turbo so that 1 it fits and 2 I can weld in in the O2 bung tonight in welding class.

Also ordered me a hobbs switch. That took a bit, damn part numbers and not much info.

Other than that, it was a good day. For now its off to box and ship stuff for people already....

Got tired of being cold so ordered electric garage heater today.

Cut new fan shroud for two 10" fans.
Welded in O2 sensor bung to down pipe, test fit it and will work great.
Ordered carb spacer and lokar throttle cable

Been quite a long time since ive really made a post on here. Yes Im still alive. A good bit has gone on since then, new house, new cars, new toys, etc. still have Ol Blue though. Big changes there too. Oldest boy at 15’ drove me nuts to get it for his first vehicle so I told him yes but hes not getting the turbo setup. So out with all of that which I made him pull and label most of it. Then had him reinstall a two bbl intake exhaust, install a carb. I took it to exhaust shop, made him rebuild all the rear drums w shoes, cylinders, and Drums. In the mail is a complete prebent brake line set which he will do along with going through the fronts to install all new bearings as well. Get that out of the way and it will be onto cleaning up some wiring, install new turn signal switch, go through wiring to make sure all lights work, convert the headlights to run from relays, and maybe some others as we go along. He really likes it but really is learning that working on things can be tough times. I think he made an account for here as well so he may be starting his own thread as his journey is just beginning.

Sounds like a fun and productive father-son project. Look forward to seeing more progress... There are several Indiana Slant 6ers on this site...

It's great that you've kept it in the family and your young un is learning the ropes. None of my kids want to deal with old cars and prefer Japanese cars, but at least I know 2 of them paid attention. You're doing him a big favor teaching him to fix his own stuff.
