Sooo, I just bought a 65 Barracuda w/o engine or trans. I think my rusty 66 Dart wagon can donate most of what the Barracuda needs. I’m curious if there are parts needed or incompatible. The two are as follows:
66 Dart Wagon. /6, 3 on the tree, 7 1/4, manual drums, manual steering.

65 Barracuda. V8 904(missing) PS, PB drums, floor shift, 7 1/4

Will the 66 /6, 3 speed and driveline bolt in to the Barracuda if I add a floor shifter(Theres a hump for the auto floor shifter)?

Will the 66 pedals fit 65?

Can I cut & weld the Z bar ball into the Barracuda?

No driveshaft will work they are both 106" wheelbase. Pedals will fit the 3 spd does not have a mounting pad for a floor shifter I would use the steering column from the 66 If you want the power steering you will have to swap the steering shaft and will need pump and brackets and crank pulley otherwise swap out the steering boxes. Z bar will swap use the frame bracket from the 66. Radiator will also fit. Add a vacuum line for the brake booster port is in #6 runner of the intake manifold. A lot of parts to swap but pretty straight forward all nuts and bolts. Good luck.

Brian

PS Save everything from the doors back from the wagon as they are wagon only parts and hard to find including the back seat and the roof also look at the wagon rear springs they may be hd 6 leaf springs.

Thanks, Brian. I’ll check the springs. I’ll be parting out or passing the wagon on in some useful way. I thought about a cheap mr gasket style 3speed floor shifter temporarily. I have most of the parts for 833 swap, but first priority is to get the Barracuda running and the wagon ready to go somewhere else quickly. Even storage/parking real estate in the Bay area is like a unicorn made out of 24K unobtanium.

Are the rear wheel wells rusted out of the wagon? I may be interested in them if not, I’m also in the Bay Area.

There aren’t any cancerous holes, but there are signs of bodywork there. Im going to portland to pick up the wagon next weds and can take a closer look.

You will also need the exhaust front pipe from the wagon not sure if the muffler is the same inlet size the tailpipe on the wagon should be side exit were as the barracuda will be rear exit.

Good point. As cuda has nothing I plan to cobble the wagon exhaust on there temporarily. I’ve got a set of Dutra Duals to go on later w all new pipe. I’ve decided to go ahead with the b&t 833. Need to check which bell I have ball stud issues and have a spacer machined for the IBR.

Did you buy that Barracuda on Craigslist that was $750? That one looked like a pretty decent car.

Thats the one. No drivetrain except a 7 1/4. Its got a crinkle in the left quarter, but no cancer. Floor shift hump, buckets, and I was sold. Seller is a nice guy as well.

BB66cuda, I drove the wagon to Oakland today. Can you be more specific as to what sheetmetal you need? Im exploring options for the wagon post-surgery.

The wheelwells are solid inner, and close in on the outer. I’ve started dismantling the wagon and working on a divestment strategy. I’ll msg you my contact info.
