Does anyone here have any experience with the Hooker SuperComp slant six headers? I am just curious if they are worth the money. The application would be a NA drag only application. I have the Clifford shorty headers now, but I have always thought that the full length headers worked better in Drag race applications.

I bought a set (long tube)for testing.

They interfere with a deep pan on a 904.

Also were slower in my testing than the long tube mopar performance 6 into 1.

Interesting, I put a deep pan on the 904 in the Barracuda and it fit fine with the Hooker long tubes.
The Hookers run parallel to the pan, about an inch away, so it is close.

I have never ran anything else so I can't comment on the performance effect.

Maybe there are differt build versions of the hooker long tube design

I had to bash my A&A deep pan to get them on

In knowing what I do about exhaust port flow and also Greg's and others' real-world results I believe the 1 5/8" tube of the Super Comp headers to be too big for a naturally aspirated 225.

I had them in my 67 Barracuda.
They didn't fit the 4 speed linkage, had to "modify" them.
The washer deal on the mounting flanges are a PITA.
I never ran any other style, not sure on performance gains or losses.

Having a running car to drive and test is infinitely better than trying to optimize everything before you start doing testing.

Folks have used Clifford shorties on cars that have gone really fast...

Touché. Alas, that is something I am all too aware of.

Get her on the track and you will have lots of fun , regardless of how fast it goes. Speed goals give us all something to shoot at in the future. I went 15.80, 14.80, 13.80, 13.40, now 12.95!! :D :D And lots of fun and friendships along the journey. Plan on the Mason Dixon debut in May!! :D :D

There is some indications that 1 1/2" shorties might be a superior header. Guzzi set all his records with them on his car and Howard Davis and Barry Harrison went really fast with them too.

I ran the Clifford shorties on my red car. Ran good, but always felt I was probably leaving some on the table.

Mike always ran the 1-5/8" Super Comps in the blue car when it was motor only and the Stocker. I know he tried the Mopar 6X1 on the dyno with the Stocker motor and found them to make way less power. He was wanting to try a set of 1-1/2" Hookers but could never find a set. I had some at one time but can't for the life of me remember who they went to.

I ran the nitrous "Bed of Snakes" header in my car because I didn't have anything else. It is an 1-3/4" step setup. I have run some good times and MPH with it, but the car would 60' all over the place. If you left at less than 4000 RPM you could get out and push faster than it left.

I stumbled on to a set of long tube Cliffords last summer and tried them. The car will now print 60' and 1/8th mile timeslips, but gave away some at the big end. However, I have not jetted for either the headers or good weather so results are still inconclusive on how much I really gave away.

All in all, I would guess there to be about a tenth to a tenth and a half difference between any of the sets of headers maybe.
