Hi all,

I am trying to verify what my engine came out of. I was told a 73 or 74 Dart, however, I have been able to decode the engine block stamp and am not sure that is the case. Here is the info.

1. Vin: 8B272348
2. Engine ID stampings: 8 W 225 6072. If I'm reading thi's correctly it means 1978 Windsor engine plant 225 CI displacement Monday March 13th.
3. Paint is a light blue color

Any ideas?

Sincerely,

Paul Barrow

Your decode is correct. This is a '78 motor built on 13 March 1978 at Windsor Engine Plant.

It's entirely possible this engine was in a '73 or '74 Dart, but not as original equipment.
