It's me again, hoping to make sure I'm IDing parts correctly. Is this the correct A833OD bell housing? It's listed as out of a 1980 Van with a 225, but the transmission type isn't listed. I've asked the seller to provide casting numbers that I can possibly reference, but he hasn't gotten back to me yet. It looks correct from my google image searches and the 4 speed article, but any validation is appreciated.

Yes. The A230 3-speed will also fit.

Measure the diameter of the hole in back, the one where the transmission registers. It should be a bit over 5". If it's under, it is not for an OD 833

I asked him to as that was my thought for confirmation. I'll see if I can get him to do it when I call back tomorrow.

When you call ask for the clutch release fork, fork boot and the dust cover for the bottom.

Yes, it's right around 5-1/8". But I find that my level of disappointment increases radically when I ask a seller to measure anything in smaller than 1" increments.

I once asked a seller on Ebay to tell which side of the car a bracket was for. He replied "It's goes on the North side."

Yes, good point, Greg. I understood you were trying to make it easy on the seller, just throwing out the spec number...

I did, those parts didn't manage to stay with it :(. I did get them to cut the price in half because of it, but I'll still need to hunt down the dust cover and a engine to bell bracket, I just have an automatic one.
