I need some rod education. Who makes the best aftermarket for a forged crank? Is it true they dont have oil holes to squirt the cam?

As far as I know, the only "off the shelf" after market rods are made by K-1 and Molner. They are similar, if not identical, and are the same length as the 198 stock rods. There have been other rods custom made for specific applications.

You didn't give us much info on why you need or want these rods.

Carrillo will make you an aluminum or steel rod, any length you need.
And long rod Molner is about your only common option.

I was most concerned about the oiling rumer and if it was true what do people do for oil modifications

I'm building a 69 225 to run nitrous that's the reason so I was going to run weisco pistions and aftermarket rods

The first K1 rods had the bearing locating notches wrong, but it has long since corrected.

I believe the OP's main question was regarding oil holes in the rods.
I have heard of people reversing the piston/rod (old HP trick) and not having issues with the oil squirt hole pointing to the opposite side.
I am not certain that the hole is really needed. Wasn't it eliminated in the later engines?

When I was researching my first slant build I recall reading info that the oiling holes were either not needed or not effective or something. I believe a more effective way to supply generous oil to the cam lobes is to put stand pipes in the lifter galley drain back holes and a small slot down each lifter bore. The slots allow the oil pool around the lifters to drain directly onto the cam lobes.

That's some good information I wanted to buy a set of weisco pistions and didnt know what to get for rods but it sounds like it doesn't matter between the 2 options out there. Thanks

I have a set of the B&R aluminum rods. I'd have to look and see if they did oil holes or not.
