I have what I think is a 198 crank.
Here are the casting numbers from the casting number charts:
And a picture of my crank, 2951265.
This seems to be a combination of both the 198 cranks listed.
Anyone have the same casting number as mine?
Any ideas on the unlisted number?

For a 225 crank from the center of a main bearing to the center of one of the rod journals would be 4.125 inches, or what the stroke is for a 225
For a 198 crank the same measurement would be the stroke of a 198 which I have read is 3 16/25.

I hear what you are saying, but you look at that 1 on my crankshaft. I don't see how that could have been a 4.

I agree...

John's suggestion of measuring the stroke is a good one.

That chart shows that the 170 and 225 crank part numbers are nowhere close to the 198 numbers....

And the strokes are far enough apart you could probably determine the difference.

170 = 3.125"
198 = 3.625"
225 = 4.125"

Just for clarity, measuring from a main journal centerline to a rod journal centerline will give you a "throw" dimension which will be half of the stroke measurement.

the stroke is the pin journal moving from one extreme to the other, like from 0 to 180 degrees
so it is twice the rod throw, good catch!

Could be mis-forged, not likely. It's not a stamp. Perhaps the original input for the chart was mistaken. There are no other 295xxxx series casting numbers on the chart. I wish I have some V-Blocks, might need to get some and check it the right way.

Where is the number located? I have a 198 crank, but can't find the numbers. But it is coated pretty well with rust preventative.

Stan, I just ran over to Ryan's and checked the crank we got last week. Guess what? I can not find a number on it anywhere! I looked on all the main counterweights and everywhere else for that matter and could not see it. If it's there it is well hidden. Sorry.
