Keeping everything Mopar is becoming more and more difficult. Even if we had an axle on a new car to put in wouldn't that really just be a Fiat? Hard to chastise someone for a Ford axel....at least they still make new ones.

I won't even mention the super neat 6 cylinder Ford engine the Aussies got that would be perfect in an A body.

I have a GM hei ignition haha, but if I can get something that doesn't require significant work to make it work (Slantzilla's offer) that seems to be the best route!

Parts is parts. If they work, use them. Remember, the NEWEST slant six vehicle was manufactured in 1987, 33 years ago. Original parts are becoming not available, stock good quality replacement parts are also becoming harder to find. It is simply a matter of practicality to use whatever parts fit.

Besides, if you owned an AMC you would have a mix of GM, AMC, and Chrysler parts from the AMC factory. Dodge used GM steering columns and carbs (probably more) in the 80s. Mixing parts from different manufacturers isn't really a big deal.
