Just got a '74 Duster with the slant six / A-904 automatic. If I swap in a rebuilt 360, will the transmission bolt up, or will I need to find a different one for the V8? Thanks.

No. Mopar small block, big block, and slants each have unique bell housing bolt patterns.

Sure! You just have to take out cylinders 5&7 to clear the starter. 8)

You will also need a 360 specific torque converter. The 360 is externally balanced by weights on the converter, while the 318 and 340 is internally balanced

And just wondering will the slant six 904 handle the extra toque and HP of the 360? As well as the rear end?

This is a moot point because the slant six 904 will not bolt to the 360. You will need to get a small block 904. The small block 904s have stronger internal components than the slant six 904s.

I suspected something like that to be true.

I have a 904 behind a 340. The guts were out of one of my Slant race trans. Those guts were out of a small block 904.

I should have been clearer: "IN STOCK FORM the small block 904s have stronger internal components than the slant six 904s."

Won't fit, won't handle it, and that goes for both,...........

looking at a V8 and Slant 6 crossmember from a 64 valiant last year, I couldnt see any differences. the slant mounts would bolt right into the v8 crossmember but for the slightest misalignment. is there a difference? is only some years?

64-66 only used one K-member as far as engine mounting is concerned. You can swap from a Slant to a V-8 by changing motor mounts and brackets (and drag link).
