Well, I finally made a pass in the Challenger. It was a long day of chasing gremlins before I got everything working, but the Challenger is out of Hibernation after about 10 years.

I was surprised with a Pro tree start, but that’s okay. I was just going to cruise down the lane, but I went on auto pilot and gunned it... no burnout, etc...

It was bogging the whole way, so I’ve got some learning to do on this new set up.

At least it made it the whole way and back to the pits.

Oh yeah, and the throttle sticks!

They apparently couldn’t find my tech card or couldn’t read the number on the window, so they just called me “Mopar”...

Photo is a little hard to read.

Congratulations Mater! Starting out with mechanical injection is kinda tough.

Launch and going down the track all felt good.

Turning radius leaves a little to be desired and the front tires rub the fenders a little at full turn, but nothing too drastic.

I need to add a rear view mirror for backing up in the pits.

The funky “funny car” type roll cage is a bit cramped. My helmet tucks right up into it, which I really don’t like. I have to slide down in the seat a little to get my head back into that area.

When I’m strapped in I can’t reach most of the switches...

All in all... I love it!

Howard called this morning to check on me. He gave me several things to look at to figure things out.

I went through and checked several things on the Challenger today.

Oil change, re-torqued the head, checked the valves, Plugs, wires, added a good engine to frame ground strap and another throttle return spring...

The biggest thing was pulling all of the injector nozzles. Plenty of gunk in 5 of 6 nozzles and lines. I think that was the main issue.

Ohio Valley has test & tune Wednesday, so we’ll try it again.

There was a young photographer at the track handing out cards. He got four shots of my one and only pass. I just bought the photos from him. I’m his second customer, so I gave him a little extra.

I’m gonna go ahead and post more proof that I ain’t just funnin’ about makin’ that pass.

That’s awesome Rob! Congrats on the first pass. I’m looking forward to seeing that car in person someday soon!

Maybe we can make it to M-D in October...

I got things figured out and hope to make a couple real passes at Ohio Valley tomorrow.

I know it will do better than that 8.83...

Awesome! I’m sure it will be fast once you get it dialed in! Good luck tomorrow!

I tried, but no cigar. :(

I’ve got something set up wrong on the Ron’s Flying Toilet methanol injection system. It dumps WAY too much fuel into the engine. I don’t think it’s the pill or nozzles, but something with the bypass/shutoff or something.

The car runs and idles and the plugs look okay, but it dumped an entire fuel cell (1.5 gallons) from the pits to the staging lanes. I ran out of fuel pulling into the staging lanes and got to push it back to my pit.

It did the same thing at US 60, but I thought it was because I didn’t leave the cutoff pulled. I’ve checked for leaks multiple times and can’t find any.

And the water pump died...

Yesterday was my nine year anniversary with the car and I SOOO wanted to make just one clean, respectable pass...

Oh well, back to the drawing board. At least I’m out at the track trying and not sitting in the garage wondering...
