Not that this impacts my decision to buy one (I am), but can you confirm which T5 this kit is being designed around?
  • 83-93 V8 = 7.18" Input shaft length with .668" pilot bearing tip
  • 4 cyl = 7.41" input shaft and .590" pilot bearing
  • 94-05 V6 = 7.85" long input shaft and .668" pilot bearing
I already have a 90 V8 T5 with the 7.18" input shaft length. In my hunt last year (and associated posts) we all agreed the later V6 would have been a better option, as the guts are the same it just has a longer input shaft though it was harder to find and then more expensive. Fortunately, this longer input shaft is swappable into the V8 trans if it is the selected platform to build this kit around.
I'm in on one of these too, although I have no idea what I'm doing!

I'm glad educated people are here to ask intelligent questions. I would not have known enough to ask. And with these details, and the ones Greg already provided, this adapter will become a useful pieve, rather than a frustrating piece of wall art.
You should remember to bookmark this thread which has most of the details you need.
Yep...have that bookmarked. I'm just not sharp enough with manual transmissions to know if ALL the answers I will need are in there. I've only owned 2 manual trans vehicles, and never had to touch either one.

I ordered mine! Do we have a ship date or is it as manufactured? Not pushing, the Gill Welding team are my heroes at this point! I almost went and bought the Toyota style 5 speed bell from Australia . This is much better solution and a better trans to boot.!

Looks like minimum quota has been met.

One week left to get in on the group buy rate!

Thanks all!

I spoke to the folks at Gill welding today.

The Aluminum for the plates is in - they are waiting on the steel for the Pilot bearing adapters.

Anticipated finish / ship date is at the end of September.

Woo Hoo!
I know I have at least 2 more cars to swap to a T5.

Maybe More.

10/20/20 Update.

Well the gracious folks and partners involved in this project have encountered some production delays and errors.

The Folks at Gill Welding should have contacted you regarding your specific options on this purchase. They are committed to making this part correctly which I appreciate. I am willing to wait another few more days or a week as there are not many folks or companies out there willing to put time or $ into Slant 6 development.

Updated finish date is now 10/23/20. I apologize for any grievance this may have caused for those of you who needed the Parts quicker or you are in the middle of a transmission swap now.

I am still excited about getting the parts and heck I bought my Wilcap Aluminum flywheel in 2006 and just got around to using it this year.

Please check out the options from Bryce and the Gill wending guys in your email or wait a bit longer for the parts.

Thank you,

Greg
