Hey Rob, I just realized I never responded to your question about the extra weight.

I was having major issues with the car being stable at the top end of the track last year. I had to run super low air pressure to make those tires hook up. So while I bought an extra set of wheels with some DOT radial tires just to try. The wheels are significantly heavier and the tires are much heavier too. At our home track Mason Dixon if you have mufflers and DOT tires you can race their “street” races. So now I’m legal to run that. Now if I add some headlights and turn signals I can drive the race car to town.

I have the old tires and wheels so I can always take the weight back out if needed. Will see how it handles on the top end of the track this weekend. Hopefully the radials are much better.

I’m going to weigh the car this week and see where it is at and maybe add some weight to run the B Gas class this weekend. We’ll see what happens.

I ran the 64 Dart with no wipers or horn for many years, including a trip from LA to/from the Nats in Columbus one year. RainX...

So few people use a horn in Wisconsin, I never thought of that as a needed item.

2,170# to 2,350# is less than 200#... Every 100# worth about a tenth...

You ran 11.00 and 6.91 with the B Class records at 11.12 and 7.33...

Looks doable to me! :D

Then you just gotta win about 5 rounds to win the Championship for a third year in a row.

Thank You Rick!
I relented to that fact that Ryan would get some good results, put up some good numbers, and take me out of the lead. I'm sure if there had been races Sunday the numbers would have been close.

Thanks to all that participated in points races this year. I had fun racing even when losing to Ryan and Lucas. We have a special thing with the Slant Six, evident by all the on-lookers while setting in the staging lanes. Everywhere I have been this year, people look and point to the Slant and say stuff (I can't hear most of the time). From my little SDRA dragster to bone stock wagons and everything in between. I like the diversity in this organization. Everyone goes about getting down the track a little different. Compare this to Pro Comp where everyone is running a Big Block Chevy-Glide and all the cars look the same. BORING!!

A truth that has always been in my box is that you never get better at racing unless you race those that are better than you. And....there is always someone better than you. I realized this as a young teenager racing radio control cars at a high level. The more tracks I went to and the more people I raced, the better driver I became. Maybe I should say more mature. This year I became a better driver.

I hope this season has inspired some to take a chance and try something new. It's fun like racing is supposed to be.

Yes, Congratulation Jeff! I also relented to the fact that there was no way I could catch you, especially with the bad weather coming in. I was fairly certain I could break the existing B gas 1/8 mile record and was hoping to break the 1/4 mile too but that wasn’t meant to be either. After the rear of the car locked up and slid sideways to a stop on my first pass I almost decided to not race it at all. It was such a weird day for racing the car but all in all it was still a lot of fun and I’m glad we got to do a little racing this season considering everything that happened this year.

I had a blast racing with you (even though we had to wait an hour and the track was super slippery that time in Knoxville lol). It is always fun putting on a show with slant 6 cars that are faster than a lot of the v8’s! I hope we get to meet up more often in the future! I hope your car inspires more people to build some dragsters like that. They look like so much fun and you got really consistent with yours!

Congratulations again on the records and winning the points!

Congrats heartily to you, Jeff! I am looking forward to meeting you in person along with having fun and racing together next year. I am just glad I was able to go to one day of Slant racing this year with my "Slanted Family in PA" - Ryan, Rick, Greg, Andrew, and now Johnny.

Best, Lou

Sorry for the late reporting this year.

Here are the points from the last race of the season at Mason-Dixon and the final 2020 Championship points (minus the 20 bonus points for Ryan when Seymour approves his record).

Congratulations again to Jeff Kendall from Tulsa, OK running his SDRA dragster for winning the championship his first year racing with us.

This was, understandably, our smallest car count since the series began in 1998 with only 21 racers.

What was Lukus Driving this year? the Funny Truck?

Also I will make the trophy's for the top 3 points folks.... if everyone is okay with that.

I will pass them along somehow to the winners.

Thanks,

Greg

Thanks, Rob!

Sounds great, Greg. Thank you.

Should we just do top 3 trophies and nothing more this year? Top 5? I am open.

Lou
