There's another option out there for a roller chain that shouldn't have the same fit challenges as the Rollmaster & JP ones. Elgin makes "Premium" components that can be combined to assemble a complete set.

Here are the Elgin parts you'll need...

• S-338 Cam sprocket
  S-339 Crank sprocket
  TC-168 Roller chain

These may be the same components for Cloyes roller chain... not sure.

I can't vouch for the set yet, but mine is due tomorrow. I'll be installing this on my long-rod rebuild and will comment back here once the car's on the road this spring. Just wanted to share...

I'd love to hear from anyone who installed this set!

Elgin Industries is a privately held US company located in Elgin IL. They are one of the part manufacturers that I worked with back in my employment days. A good company with solid systems. They manufacture valve train components: push rods, lifters, rocker arms for the OE automotive and HD truck market. They also have an extensive aftermarket parts catalogue. I believe most of the aftermarket part production is outsourced, but I also believe they are the kind of a company that would keep good tabs on outside suppliers.

They do that 'Black Ice' cryogenic treatment on site at the plant in Elgin.

The Elgin Engineering Mgr is a real motor head. He drives and drag races a nearly stock and absolutely pristine '68 Pontiac GTO.
The reception room at the plant has a vintage cut away small block Chevy on display.
The company had a race car sponsored and entered in the Indy 500 from the 30's to the late 50's.

Can't get them through rockauto, summit, or jegs, either. Probably need to go into a parts store and convince the counter jockey to special order them in.

I contacted Elgin and they confirmed that they are a manufacturer and do not sell retail.
Elgin gave the names and phone numbers of two of the distributors that they supply to.

EPW does sell retail either through the phone number listed or through their web site.

The components for the timing set, S-338, S-339, TC-168 show out of stock on the web site, per the EPW
person I spoke with on the phone the individual parts can be special ordered separately or but he said it is cheaper to
just by the three parts as a set, he said they have 6 of the complete timing sets in stock.
The part number for the slant six timing set is T3022 it is listed as being $27.79

Thanks Dadtruck! I ordered one. FYI- shipping was pricey- $25 for nothing but the timing set. Not large, not heavy, but it is getting hard to find slant performance parts. We'll see how it looks when it arrives.

Charlie, you are correct. The PN that John had shared was indeed for the service replacement part, not the roller (I paid $116 for my set, shipping included). I'm still working on getting a contact for purchasing.

Well, if I can't cancel my order, I will let you know what shows up. Something tells me (mostly what others have posted) that it will be a stock set. Oh, well. I don't have any new slant timing sets currently.
