That’s a good suggestion Greg. I really wish I had time to figure it out.

We tried our best. Many thanks to everyone at the track and on the phone for your help. Us Posers need all the help we can get! Cookie even brought my favorite cookies!

Unfortunately, this was my last chance for a few years. C’est La Vie.

Adam and I shared some highs/lows for the weekend on our way home. He questioned why I didn’t mention the Challenger doo doo in my very short list of lows… Being around such great people all weekend and feeling that kinship and support completely overshadowed not getting the car to run right. If anything, I’m more disappointed that I let people down.

It’s been 10 years now,… another 3 or so won’t be that big of a deal…

I give up. I’m going a different route. This Slant 6 stuff is just too hard for a Poser like me.

Sumbudy needs to... I just can't get it right... I hear them Chebby LS engines are the "easy button"...

Howard called the other day after my debacle at London... Him & Chuck & some other fellers wuz talkin' about me & my Poser ways... I wondered why my ears wuz burnin'...

Anywho,... Howard offered to go over everything again with the new fuel pump, etc.

I figger it'll just sit there under a tarp fer a few more years & need to be done all over again anyway...

Howard's gonna go ahead & do some more Bamboozler stuff to it. He wuz talkin' about crank triggers, roller cams, 9,000 RPM,... stuff like that... They're going to get it all situated and make some dyno pulls to see where we're at. It'll be ready to go when I go pick it up... No promises on what happens after that...

Just a guess, but the new pump has more volume so you ended up pig rich. Factor in wet, cold air and it's a recipe for disaster.

Yep. It was rich. Don’t know if it was pig rich, but it ran like a pig…

We went from a 100 pill up to a 110 and down to a 94 with the same results both ways. We also swapped the distributor with no change.

It didn’t run cleanly at RPM no matter what we changed… :?

Engine is pulled and ready to go to Howard for more voodoo.

I’ll be coming back fairly often through at least April. Who knows after that. Adam and Joe have keys to the shop and all the cars. Maybe they’ll wind up playing with things while I’m in NC.

Howard has re-worked all the lines and fittings and re-mounted everything. It will be much more streamlined now and easier to service. He has already saved over 6 pounds just in lines, fittings, and mounts. I’ll be changing the water pump and radiator to smaller, lighter ones as well.

He has made several things out of billet aluminum to replace steel stuff.

When I go back for Christmas we will hopefully put it on the dyno.

Looks very nice Rob! No way you can run this at Christmas and then pack it up for 3 years! :D Thou shalt surely run it in 2022! :D :D

Very nice work, Howard. Great news, Rob. Hope we can see this beast run like a scalded dog down the track in 2022...

It's only a 10 hour drive from Fort Bragg to Fort Knox...

I do hope to get the Challenger put back together with these and other improvements and be able to make an event or two in 2022...

Time will tell... as always...

I can tell Howard enjoys doing this. He's a good guy. I really appreciate his help and guidance.

He has developed the Hillside Six about as far as he is willing to (without turning it into a tube frame chassis and making his own aluminum block...)

We are going to change over to shorty headers for better packaging and more ground clearance. The current exhaust tubing weighs 22 pounds!

Adam is willing to re-do the roll cage side bars and funky halo hoops for me too. That will make the car more comfortable and save a few more pounds.

Living alone in the RV is good for the driver to shed a few pounds as well...
