I think Lou will be putting his setup on a car that will experience a variety of throttle angles as well as wide open.

I took the Colt out for the last time this year.
Getting cold out here in Texas, but I wanted to see where things are.
This video is the second pass and you can see quite a few things in the pass.
First, I am still driving thru the front brakes.
Second, it seemed the engine stumbled out the hole, then it picked up.
Third, my best 1-2 shift, I didn't lift the throttle and it hit good.
I was watching the tach and it was climbing toward 6k, rev limited and shift light setting.
Fourth, either I missed 3rd or I had a trans issue, it was ugly.
And so that was the night.
Gates don't open till 3, there was a pretty good oil down, and it was getting dark.
Here is the video:

It looked like you really started to fly after hitting 3rd gear.
What sort of times were you getting?

Are you talking about on the burn out? What gear do you do the burnout in?

What RPM are you launching at? I have to leave about @ 2200 rpm or above or else I get a bad stumble. I generally leave at about 2800 RPM.

Rick, the first pass, not posted, I just idled it out.
I tried on the posted video to come out harder, 25-3000 rpm.
It burped on launch then picked up.
That was my best 1-2 shift, it chipped the tires.
But third was missed and it got into the limiter.
Still not fast, MPH was about the same on the first run.
Lots to fix.
They had an oil down that took about an hour of what little daylight we had.
I had some other problems, so we packed it up.
Now up on stands to fix it more better.
No records were harmed in the filming of this car.

it's not very fast, I think my best 1/8 was around 75, first pass.
Second pass after missing third was sorry.
In the video after the stumble 1 to 2nd it was pulling real good.
A full pass should be a good number.

I doubt you'll damage the back bumper, but you will be amazed at how much harder it will launch.

When I finally got mine over 4000 on the brake it felt like I got hit in the back by a truck.

You really gotta drive it like ya stole it.

I did steal it!
But I still have to pay for it!

I used to dump the Clutch on my '69 Dart @ 5000, of course that was on a poorly setup hyperpack Intake and ~3400# Car.

Have fun!

Exciting stuff, Stan. You will get it worked out. 4000 RPM, ditto...
