Day 1 is in the books, it poured pretty much all day but we still ran well with our 63 Valiant. Currently 63rd out of 128 and 12th of 29 in Class C. More rain tomorrow, should be fun!

We only had 1 30 minute mishap today which was a stuck throttle at WOT coming into a braking zone. Killed it with the master switch and got it stopped in time but had to be towed back. It was about a 2 minute fix and we were back out. A bolt backed out of our fabricated kick down/throttle and snagged. Since we don't use the kickdown anyway and only shift manually we pulled the bolt and carried on for the rest of the day.

I'll update with how tomorrow goes. The /6 is purring!

-Jon

Quit petting that kitty. Step on it's tail, and get it to scream.

Some of the Lemons races have been snowed on (Road Atlanta, etc.) and they often get rained on. It was pretty damp at Sonoma this weekend from what I understand.

A good book to read is "The Art of Racing in the Rain" :D

https://www.amazon.com/Art-Racing-Rain- ... 0061537969

They also made it into a movie...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Art_o ... ain_(film)

Looking forward to hearing the race recap from blown340!

So day 2 was awesome, we fired the car in the morning, checked the fluids and sent it to the grid. We ran from the green to the checker with no issues only coming into the hot pit for fuel and driver swaps. In fact other than a lug wrench to check the lug nuts we never opened our tools, or took out our parts bins all weekend. The result?

IOE!!!!!! We finally won lemons! We were pretty stoked with that. Overall we finished 60th out of 128 cars, and 11th in class C out of 29 cars. More importantly we beat a lot of miata's and BMW's! :D

We lost about 10 laps on our hung throttle Saturday and our slow pit stops cost us at least a lap each time, so there's potential to move up and keep getting better.

We had a new bigger trans cooler out in front of the radiator this time, but when we were really caning it the tranny temps were still getting hot and we would have to back off. This thing needs a stick badly..

Anyway, when we started this our goal was a IOE, it took us 9 races to do it but I couldn't be happier. Now to keep improving it before Thunderhill in May.

And yes, to the poster above, other than some rain in the winter, the weather is always good here year round so we have racing and car stuff all year.

I'm already thinking about next time! :)

-Jon

Congrats!

You need to share a video or picture of your car or team's success!

I snatched these pics from the Thunderhill race earlier this year. I believe they won Organizer's Choice at that one.

Thanks for adding the pics! We had a judges choice way back in 2017. At the Thunderhill race we got the heroic fix.
