NPK Is a little tiring right now. We are in the middle of 5 races in 5 weeks.
The car is sorted out from last year and working well. We just need a little luck!!

Well, went to T&T last night.
In spite of the blistering heat I learned a few things.
Still havent turned the corner on running with the big dogs yet.
I guess it seems small but I was able to see 6K RPM in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd last night.
So the engine has plenty of potential.
Played around with shift points, launch RPM, timing.

I am going to swap my transmission out in the next week for a lower 1st gear.

If you are still awake and following the Shix Show, thank you.

Thanks guys, for someone who is supposed to know what he is doing, it don't look pretty.

I have had the bog since day one.
Finally I started thinking it's the trans ratio.
I used to run the 3.09 first gear.
I just thought it was too much gear so I went with a 2.47.
Well that is a 383-440 ratio for a much bigger engine with more grunt than my street engine has.
So my spare is a 2.66 which is a ratio which will be a better launch gear.
I am starting to dig through my boxes to see if I have a 3.09 gear set.
If the 2.66 is a move in the right direction based on more testing, I will build a 3.09.
Right now the 2.47 with a 4.88 is 12.05 to 1.
A 3.09 is 15.08 to 1.
Big difference.

If I remember correctly a 904 is what, 2.7 something?
With a converter the launch total ratio would be better than what I have by a mile.
But I run a stick and will till the bitter end.

I think you will like the lower 1st Gear.

If it were me, and talk to Mark on this too... I would put the 3.09 in there first before the 2.66.

You probably have plenty of tire for it.

Greg

Yea I could take the 2.66 apart and mount the 3.09.
But the 3.09 has a weak second gear, I either need to buy another or send it to Brewers to rebuild it.
And neither have been race prepped, they are just extra gear sets.
I like the Liberty the way it shifts.
Like right now.

Did the carbs seem to work any better for you?

Rick
Carbs seem to be working fine, even though I had a full throttle issue with them not coming full open.
Fixed that now but didn't go any faster.
I sent you a Weber tool, see what you think about that and how does it compare with your set up?

Tying to decide if I want to open the spare trans and change gear set or try it as is and see if that is the issue.

It has to be something, maybe I need more horsepower!

It was funny at the track, some guys came up and looked in the Colt.
The one dude saw the shifter and his jaw dropped.
He asked me if it was a manual transmission.
He was surprised with my answer.
Who does that?

Well that is good.

I would have thought your transmission would have been Ok with 4.88 gears? :D So we are all learning here. If you have the 2.66 ready to try, I would drop it in and see how it does. At least it will tell you if you are heading down the right road. Keep at it! :D :D
