What rpm are you launching at?

I have my brake chipped to 3600 so I can have a slight chance of leaving on green.

Drove it out the first run and waited for the shift light, 6000.
I wanted to be double sure it was turning up the RPM I thought it could do.
6000 in first, second and third.
Second run was launch at 3500-4000, and watched for the shift light.
Ran it out the back end and waited for 6000 in third.
3rd run bumped timing to 34 total, launch at 4000.
Shifted at 5000 just to see if I was flogging a dead horse.
Hit 5000 RPM a few feet before the 1/8.

So RPM is good, launch is fair(still bogged), tires hook, goes straight.

If I can get it to launch and 60 foot it has to go faster.

Carbs seem to be working fine,
Well that is good.

I would have thought your transmission would have been Ok with 4.88 gears? :D So we are all learning here. If you have the 2.66 ready to try, I would drop it in and see how it does. At least it will tell you if you are heading down the right road. Keep at it! :D :D
On the fence, I have a 3.09 gear set I could put in the 2.66 case, then I would have what I had with the Barracuda.

Is your car dead hooking? Does the clutch have any slip? With a little motor you need either tire spin or clutch slip or both.

No slip in the clutch, trying to dial in the clutch tamer.
No tire spin.

I am talking with Dan Brewer right now about another option on trans.
I don't want to get any heavier.
My 2.66 is in a cast iron case, +20 lbs.

I think I run around 81-83 mph in the 1/8

1/4 or 1/8?

Reason I ask is it may not all be your launch. It seems like it's not making much steam downtrack.

So now you are playing nice.......

It doesn't zing if that is what you are wondering.
It sounds busy but might be much ado about nothing.
1/8.
But at Mokan there was not much speed increase from 1/8 to the 1/4.
But I thought it was because I did not have full pedal.

Another reason to put the 2.66 box in to see if it will pick up.
That and increase the rev limiter and shift point.
Scary shix there......
