Unfortunately for me, that was way too far to pull for one iffy day. My week leading up to it getting ready was a nightmare, then my cousin flaked off on me anyway.

I am planning on Clay City IF the weather cooperates. Last time we pulled down there it rained so hard it was drowning fish.

The Friday Night TnT at Mokan got rained out. I was already planning to miss Saturday due to a wedding. I heard that Steve was the only Slant there. I also heard the total turnout was thin. I'm sure he missed having some other slants to race with.

This is disappointing because for me, it's two years in a row I've missed my home track Mopar's Invade and that mother nature didn't play well. I have no doubt that at least a few stayed away. I would have.

It's easy to say "there's always next year" until there is no next year. Tracks close, health issues happen, we get old, Mopar Meets stop meeting, Turbo LS heads up racing takes over and then you say "wish they still races those slant sixes like they used to".

Since I missed this one, I am considering adding Clay City and have always had Knoxville on the 2024 schedule.

Rest assured Shawn and I will work to represent the Slants around NE Oklahoma. I'll be competing in regular bracket racing at Mokan throughout the summer.
Well said Jeff.

Yes that was the case for a lot of people that year due to the hurricane coming in.

Hope it's better this time!

The 2022 iteration was about the Same, Lou, Jeff, Joel and I waited around a while and we got rained on a bit, but not as band as it was in 2018!

Met with Steve Nitti this morning, they made three runs at 3,250# to reset the 1/8 mile unlimited D class record at 7.0723 and 97.17. It was backed up with a 6.9373 and 98.38 which would have been new records if the back up had been within 1%. Congratulations to car owner Steve and driver Denny Bieryl. Steve said the high winds on Friday made for some exciting towing.

Sorry to hear about MoKan, and thanks for everyone's comments. Nice to hear that Denny and Steve set those records so low. Inspiring.

Next up, May 19 in Boonsboro/Hagerstown, MD!

Lou

Kentucky dragway just reached out to me wanting some cool slant six racing pictures for their flyer for the race in August. Does anyone want to be famous…? If so, post here or send me some pictures in a private message.

I’m not sure what I’m on. But my computer has a crank on the side. What would that be?
