I just honed the bearings in the lathe using 600 grit. Cam turns freely. I've done this on every slant I've built, and I understand the tight cam bearing issue is common to all older Chrysler engines. Something to look forward to on my 440 build for the Airport car.

Bottom end is almost buttoned up. Making steady forward progress, even if not at the pace I would like. Dang day job keeps getting in the way, plus fall ball practices for the kid. Fortunately once the engine is built, it's any easy install in the dragster.

I'll be leaving the Tulsa area Monday evening, and arriving in Knoxville Tuesday late afternoon. We are vacationing in the Gatlinburg area for the week, and returning to Knoxville Friday afternoon for racing.

I think the race car is ready. Finished the front brakes. Have arrangements made for Peg for 6 days. Still need to finish trailer brakes. Game plan is to leave here on Thur morning, and get to Knox on Fri. about Midday. Little over 600 miles. A little too far for me to do in one day.

Out to the garage to install 4.86 rear gears! As long as they don't change it to a"no prep race" I may be able to see what the car will do with those gears.

I have great neighbors! Many who love my old car! I do have a slip on exhaust system for most of my trips!

Looks like me and Ryan are coming. He will race my truck. Weather looks Good.

I re-confirmed that we are a GO for Knoxville on Friday evening 9/20 and Saturday 9/21 this week! Gates open at 5 PM Friday, runs at 6 PM. Gates open at 10 AM Saturday, with runs starting at noon.
