I was going to do a glove box liner, but it looks like the print farm can't fit it in a FDM printer. Their resin printer is apparently up for the job, but not at a reasonable price. So now I'm working on armrests.

I'm not in the market, but I have a question: why are these shaped differently to the originals? The originals had curved long sides, and these have two straight lines—a short one and a long one—connected at a sharp corner.

The vents I had on my car - these are a junkyard set as the originals cracked, and may be aftermarket - have a straight tube that abruptly dumps into a short rectangular duct. There's an abrupt edge transition there. I decided that instead of copying this, I would do a gradual flare-out for smoother airflow. I also made the vanes curved like turbine blades instead of flat, both to smooth air flow and because the curve would make them a bit stiffer.

Due to the limits of 3D printing, having the vanes inset away from the upper surface would have had problems with the vanes sagging while printing, so I moved the top of the vanes to be flush with the top of the vent. I figured that if the part wouldn't fool a restoration judge, I might as well see if I could improve the design. The one I was working with is either an aftermarket copy or something Chrysler needed done in a very short timeframe; it was clearly designed more to economize on mold making than anything else.

I was trying to tell if the intended shape was a straight line or a gentle curve, and it looks like I guessed wrong. However, some details of this model are pushing Freecad to its limits, and changing that line to a curve is likely to break a lot of things in the model.

This may come up with a couple other items where I have to tell if a feature is the original intent or if I'm dealing with a warped part. For example, I'm trying to figure out if the top of the armrest was supposed to be horizontal, or if the angle is intentionally greater than 90 degrees.
