I'm guessing it's used, as it's getting hard to find the particular chain shown in the picture. Now you're either looking at the thin three spoke cam socket with a stock-type chain, or the Roll-Master double roller chain. I haven't been able to find a current source for the middle ground option with an inverted tooth chain and stout sprockets.

Some new chains are coming with "worn out" play already built in from new. Ask me how I know!
