Do I need to insulate my number plate light (where it screws to the bumper) to fully insulate/isolate my rear bumper?

And now that we have them, pedestrians get hit less and cars get less bent, less often. No thoughtful person should have a problem with that.

We can rant until the cows freeze over about how people should pay careful attention to what they're doing at all times, every time they're in the driver's seat. That's right, but people are lousy at doing that—rant or no rant.

I don't like being beeped and booped and pinged at by the blind spot alert in my 2014-model car. Most of the time it's redundant; I've checked my properly-adjusted mirrors and double-checked over my shoulder before backing out or changing lanes, and I already know there's a car or a pedestrian or a bicyclist. But it's alerted me to unseen hazards enough that my occasional irritation at "BeeBeeBeep!" is a fair exchange for avoiding collisions, near-hits, or even just spiked adrenaline and blood pressure.

So I won't get onside in mocking the OP for wanting parking sensors.

Seems to me the hardest part would be completely insulating steel bumpers. Even with rubber washers on the bolts the bumpers are still in contact with the steel brackets.

I might be tempted to fabricate some small brackets, rubber-coat them (Plasti-Dip?) and attach those to the bumpers with nylon screws.

I dislike the visual challenges of new cars that make parking sensors and back up cameras necessary... But I understand and appreciate that new junk is safer than my old junk.

My M37 is very difficult to see/judge behind it. Every bit a bad as a new vehicle, for different reasons.

I CAN see where parking sensors in the rear bumper could really help me park my truck in the barn TIGHT. IN low light I can use the reflection of the brake lights to judge the distance, but in the afternoon sunshine, it is impossible to with out getting out of the cab to check.

I use the Hopkins Backup Sensor System - Audible Alert - License Bracket Mount
Part Number: HM60100VA on my Dart and D100. Works very well for me. Easy install and very reliable. Hooked up to the backup light power and voila (French for - there you go, not the musical instrument like the harmonica balancer)
