I did not hear back, from last week. Some fuddy duddy-ness with the message got lost, not placing blame as there is a lot of life and death stuations and evacuations that Andre' is going through over there on the Left Coast.

He is in the middle of a ring of fires currently (literally) :(

I called the number provided today and gave the specs for the new cam.

I should have the new converter by next week.
I probably should have done this a long time ago, but I never chose to put aside the $ for it.
Now I can

Thanks, Charrlie, Rick, Lou for your help!

That was what I was thinking, but It seems that there is much more in the equatuins and so forth than just the Stall.

As I understand it and the way Andre' tried to explain it to me, there is an RPM Range between the Redline/Shift point and stall that all need to be accounted for. He said that he can get me more MPH with possibly less stall than what I think I currently have.

Too Much Stall, you give up MPH down track in the 1/4 Mile.

Honestly I could probably get a converter built specifically for Just 1/8 and Just 1/4 Mile racing.
I told Andre' that I did both.

He is a smart guy that has been in this business for over 30 years. He genuinely wants your data points and is using some deep black magic math and formulas to help sell you a converter that is based on your needs.
Good Stuff.

I thought he was a super guy too! And like you said he explained a lot of things to me that were over my head. I'm glad he is still in business!

Andre is great to work with. To make a long story short. I broke the converter in my Cuda, many years ago. Could not get it repaired or get a new one in time for a race at Clay City. Someone told me about Edge, and I called them. I needed a converter with the small pilot, and large trans splines. Andre recommended a 9 1/2 inch (my old converter was a 8 inch). The price he quoted me, I thought was too cheap. So I thought it just wouldn't work with the 170 engine. I did wind up ordering the converter on Monday and had it in my yard on Wed (over nite air). Had a problem with fit (his first time building the "hybrid" style converter). We spoke on the phone, and I told him I could make it work, but didn't want to void the warrantee. He told me to do whatever was necessary, and to send the converter back when I got a chance to pull it. 4 Months later I sent the converter back to him (on his dime) and he repaired it and sent it back, with an extended warrantee.
PS: the converter worked exactly as he stated it would. I have had three of his converters.

I hope he never gets bought out, gets old or retires! - Or, maybe I need to stock up on a lifetime supply of Edge converters!

Greg

Hey, don't wish "not getting old". You do realize what the alternative is?

Different convertor for 1/8 and 1/4 mile bracket racing? I admire your spirit. You're definitely not old yet.

Charrie,

I guess I meant old "in spirit".

Yes I am aware of the alternatives... potato or not with us any longer.

I have never gotten a spec sheet with any converter I bought, ever. The only info I have ever been able to get is the stall speed at a given torque input.

Boy I can't remember for sure? But, I think it came with a paper or else he e-mailed me with what I ordered? Stall speed & type internals ...etc. I will do some looking tomorrow and see if I have anything in my file.

I have Coan, ATI, PTC, and TCI. No spec sheets with any of them.
