Cable? Stepside beds got chains, fleetside beds got metal straps. Never heard of a cable.

Would a chain fit on the fleetside?
No. Totally different mechanisms. Stepside beds and tailgates have metal hoops for the chains to attach. Fleetside beds and steps have metal flanges that the straps fit over. Plus, the chain is too wide and would not fit in the narrow gap between the bed side and the tailgate on a fleetside.

Well he "could" but he'd have to make some mods, drill holes, etc. not worth it

Yes , but why? When the correct bolt in links are available? New and in the junk yards by the millions. :D :D

Ive seen the o. LMC thanks to the previous post. I always forget to check LMC and i have a hard time finding 80s dodges at junkyards
