Hey there

I was wondering if someone can tell me

bowl float clearance to bowl wall when inverted
how many turns to the idle needles
and if do you know where I can get replacement diffusors

On Holley 2300's and 4150/4160's the float is parallel to the roof of the fuel bowl when turned 'upside-down', you will re-adjust the float again through when the car is idling by opening the fuel bowl sight screw and adjusting the float so only a drop or two of fuel comes out of the bowl with the sight screw out.

Since you're carb isn't OEM, start at 1 1/2 turns out and try to adjust inward...the only real snag to this, is if your 2300 is for a 'smog' era Ford so you may have 'reverse' idle screws, which lean things out as you 'loosen' them.....

Can you show a picture of a 'diffusor'? I'm not sure if you're referring to the venturies, jets, ???

I've already managed to repair my diffusors. Those are the li'l piece that is fixed on the main body ontop the venturi. The "pipes" that are connected to the main jets directly. I lined a couple of replacement parts on my small lathe. I'll post what I'm doin with the 2300 soon. So far I've polished the venturis, removed the diffusors (and managed to get the damned things again on :lol: ) and replaned the metering block side and the throttle body side for even seat.

about float level, I'm asking if someone has checked how much clearance has to the roof when properly setted and inverted (I dunno if you guys use that way of measuring dry bowl level... inverting the bowl cover (when the float is front hung) and measuring clearance to the roof.

By the way, if someone is using a 2300 I'd love to get a pic of the throttle lever pedal and kickdown linkages.

The diffusors attach to the flux capacitor and fuel the lateral harmonic disruptors. :P

I prefer to post some pix since I'm feeling that I might be massing it up with tech translation

this is what we call diffusor in spanish

as you may see, in order to fix it again on the carb's main body I cutted out the piece that was pressure fitted. Then I lined some replacement pieces for holding that again in the body

lined outta bronze stock. I used a 60° countersink for the main body metering block side

while I was in there I slightly enlarged polished up the venturis

I'm gonna mirror polish the venturi (I removed all the offending protrusions and cast marks) and the diffusors. I'll post some new pix soon.

OK, it takes a bit of getting used to translating....

Personally for good crisp throttle response instead of putting the old boosters back in, I'd run a set of annular venturies like I have currently in my car (pictured in this post.... http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic ... ht=annular)


This may cut down on your CFM rating 'slightly' but it helps atomize the gas better and throttle response is much more improved.

That carb is now installed on my daily driver, so pics are not easy to get a good one of anything under the hood....

Juan, the annular booster venturis have six holes around the inside. They are made in two pieces and pressed together. You may be able to find a Ford 4-barrel (Holley 4360) that uses them. Ford used them in the early '80's on pickups and Mustangs.

Interesting to see how you replaced the venturi's. I was thinking of doing the same thing to put the Ford truck venturi's in a 2300.

I ended up discarding those pieces and relining another ones threaded. I'll post those pix soon. They were cake to intall, no hammering, and the venturis got fixed more tight. So I'll be showing those soon. I used some fuel resistant sealant just in case, even thou clearance was tight on those pieces (just in case, I dont wanna be reassembling again the thing... )
