Dan talks about these, but I have never seen them.
Interesting to me.

Whoah-whoah-whoah.

This is interesting, but I'm even more interested in knowing what document these page photos are from. '60 Valiant assembly manual or…???

Nice. Thanks for Sharing.

Must be semi-regional or unique if it is suprising to Dan.

That's a US document, which somehow made its way to Australia. The stainless trim in question was used only on very-early-build '60 Valiants; by the time the 1,208 1961 Valiant CKD kits were sent down to Australia, the mylar-chromed lockstrip we all know and hate had long since supplanted the stainless trim.

Another point of query that is semi-related:

At the Roanoke Valley MoPar Show in Salem, VA over the weekend, we were comparing the metal / chrome strips / trim on the rear 1/4 windows on Mark C.'s '60 valiant to my '62 Sedans (I have had 3 of them in 5 years, Some ended up being parts cars) His '60 has metal covering the gasket on those windows.

My '62 has just a gasket with a mylar lock strip only. all 3 of my '62 sedans and the '62 wagon use this arrangement, not like mark's car with the "reveal molding"

Happy Valianting!

Greg

Did you get pictures of the trim on the '60?

I am not sure when the stainless on the front and rear was replaced with the mylar strip.. But it was early, early on. Even the inner trunk trim lasted slightly longer. It may be listed in the early parts books but I will have to dig one out to check.
Over the years I have been able to collect all the stainless trim in question except for the front lower drivers side corner piece. And the actual window gaskets have eluded me as well. And for some reason I have managed to get extras of some of the corner pieces.
I am hoping they go on a future 61 Valiant project.

No But I am sure I have some. It's on Mark C.'s white '60 Sedan.

I have pictures of his car, but no close ups of the trim.

I will hafta dig and crop stuff with the photo editor.

As you can See here:
Image'60 Valiant 1/4 Window Trim by Hyperpack, on Flickr

Mark's 1960 has stainless on the 1/4 window. I assume there is a small / thin gasket under it, but is is sure different than my '62's

Sorry, I do not have a better close up, This was cropped from a photo ~50 feet away.
