I am attempting to refurb a KH SBP disc system. I have read there
are two different rotors a unicast and a two piece. I think I have the
two piece since it appears the hub is a separate part from the rotor.
My two issues are identifying which rotor I have and separating the
hub from the rotor - I see where the wheel lug studs are press fit
to the hub. But is there also a press fit between the rotor and the
hub around the inner bearing?

If anyone has a pictures of the hub and rotor apart on a 65-72
I would like to see them.

The uni-cast rotor was used from 73. It also utilized a single piston sliding caliper.

To seperate the rotor from the hub you just pound out the studs. Nothing else is holding the rotor to the hub.

Both bearing races (inner/outer) are press-fit into the hub.

As Sandy mentioned, the only rotor used with the KH setup was two piece.

Sorry to hear you have KH brakes. I only say that because I just went through mine for the first time a few months ago myself with all new/rebuilt stuff. DAMNED expensive parts, WHEN you can find them. Sorry, I don't have any pictures, but if you run into trouble finding parts (like the little anti-rattle clips), '68 Mustangs used the same disk-brake setup, and several parts are interchangeable.

For what I spent, I almost wish I'd started with a drum brake car to begin with and just converted to disks...

FYI, rockauto.com lists new rotors (w/o hub) for $71 ea, and loaded calipers for $88 ea (+ $30 core). I agree they are not the easiest/cheapest.

I read the Tom Condran book before I started this disc brake conversion
so I knew pretty much what I was in for. The only way to get the "stock
look" have a factory sway bar and keep the small bolt pattern wheels
was to go with the KH 4 piston setup. I knew the parts were not the
cheapest - It does appear they are available at a price.

I had this setup on a 340 Duster previously and it served very well.
It will be alot more than I will need on the 61 valiant it is going on.

Thanks for the help on the two part rotor issue and the rotor/hub
attachment issue - I sure plan to take some pictures if I can get
the 30+ year old rust to let loose and I get the hub off the rotor.
